Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) devices
The use of a CPAP device is considered to be one of the most common and effective nonsurgical treatments for the alleviation of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. The CPAP machine is roughly about the size of a shoebox and delivers air into your airway through a specially designed mask. The flow of air creates enough pressure when you inhale to keep your airway open while you sleep. The mask attached can be designed to cover your nose and mouth, a mask that covers your nose only (nasal continuous positive airway pressure, or NCPAP), or prongs that fit into your nose.

Powering your CPAP if electricity fails or when electrical plug in is not available
Almost all CPAP machines can run on 12 volt DC battery power. There are a variety of ways to connect your CPAP machine to a battery including getting a deep-cycle 12 volt marine battery and connecting that directly to your CPAP. However, for those not well-versed in, or not comfortable with such electrical hook ups, the most convenient way is to use a commercially available 12 volt power pack. More on power packs...
